Sub war of the things, Part Four of Twelve ————————————————————- The Empire Strikes Out ———————————
“James?” “Yes, your imperial Majesty” “Other James?” “Indeed, your highness” “Watch. Squallwalkers! To your stations.” A series of men in black plastic suits hurried to various points around the control room. “You’ve changed the Uniform. Your father always had them in white” “White is more visible. Besides,” the figure in the flowing black robe shrugged “I like black. Open the main screen!” A Squallwalker pressed a button, and a large window opened up, displaying the inky darkness of the water outside. “Turn on the special lighting” Instantly, the water cleared and they could see for miles. Several miles in front of them was a large city, protected from the world by some sort of force-field, trapping air inside. “Recognise that?” “Yes, Empirical one” said James, “It’s Binksville.” “Yes, my stupid sidekick, it’s Binksville, It’s where my father started his empire. They seem to think just because the old fool is dead, they can disobey me. They are wrong. Power up the Meganerf!” Three identical squallwalkers pulled keys from their pockets. Or tried to. Each realised in turn that the new uniform lacked pockets, and took of a hip-guard and a small percentage of their Armour to get at the jeans beneath. Each withdrew a key, which they inserted into a panel in front of them. Meanwhile, the figure on the bridge removed her robe with infinite grace and dignity, revealing a floor-length leather jacket beneath. She removed her key from the chain around her neck, and inserted it slowly into the console in front of her. “Er, Po..” began James the figure spun around. “That’s Darth Posie to you, James” “Darth Posie, then,” said Green “Are you sure this is wise? The Meganerf is untested, we don’t know what it will do!” “Then we are about to test it, aren’t we?” said Darth Posie sweetly. “Fire.” ———- In Binksville it was a nice day, the lights were working, the king was happy, and the city was prosperous. One by one, the citizens looked up and saw a large, yellow, latex torpedo heading for their city. All was Silent. The torpedo got closer, and closer. Finally one citizen found his voice. “Weesa people gonna die?” The Meganerf hit. ———- The Meganerf hit, landed on the dome of the city like a piece of chewing gum, and immediately began to expand. The ball grew six feet, twelve feet across in seconds, and despite the fact it looked totally solid, it seemed to pass though the buildings and rocks like smoke. Within ten seconds the sphere had eclipsed the entire city with a huge yellow sphere, and began to contract. From miles across to a single point and then gone in less than three seconds. And where Binksville once was, was nothing. Not even a crater to show where the city had once stood. ———- On the main deck of the Ohio Evans, all was silent. “What” asked Jack “The hell was that?” “I think” replied Peter, “it would be a good idea to find out. Turn around, Mr Ogden, we are going back to the rock”. ———- “What’s that?” asked James, pointing to a point of the view screen “That’s the Ohio Evans” said Darth Posie. At that moment, a Squallwalker came in. “Yes, Miss Johns?” “We’ve just identified the kid on the sub that Captain Irish reported. It’s Jack Geekay.” said Cathryn. “James’, Both of you. Go find that Sub. Don’t let the Lord of the Things get away” “Capture him, Posiedoll?” “I don’t think so. Green, McGraw, Get Captain Irish to take you. And take off those stupid wigs.” They began to walk off. “And James?” they both turned. “If you ever call me that again, I will kill you.”Yours in total sincerity Aquarion
